Aigua is a typeface that was designed by Sergi Delgado and Daniel Wenzel, another graphic and typographer of his own right. The two collaborated to produce the Sans Serif typeface 'Aigua' back in 2017. As seen in the images above, the typeface itself is a geometric sans serif, as it harks back to Delgado's love and use of mathematical and geometric shapes in his designs. Going for a geometric style of type makes the most sense, as it aligns with his past projects and design principles. The most interesting feature about the typeface is the free-flowing, organic white lines that create these interesting water-like patterns across either the bottom or top corner of each letter, number and sign.
These organic white lines almost act as if the negative white space is weaving itself through the letterforms. These organic lines create a fantastic contrast to that of the very clean and highly geometric forms of the letters. Given that both Wenzel and Delgado have a pension for creating movement in their works, it is fitting that there is also an animated version of this font style that allows for the organic lines in the letterforms to shift around in a clockwise direction, creating so much more visual interest to the font face itself.
