Delgado's interesting blend of graphics, illustration and typography makes his work stand out amongst his peers. His creativity and experimental nature with typography are, in their own accord, pushing boundaries in what can be done with type and typefaces. Utilizing his unique style and creative eye, in 2013 Sergi Delgado created his own typeface called 'Gado'. Gado is a typeface that takes inspiration from the piano. The font uses a piano-key style modular stencil typeface. It is a bold, geometric and artistically structured typeface that is intended to be used for headlines, posters and graphic design projects, which gives works a distinct, bold and artistic appearance. In 2017, Delgado and his co-creator created a new typeface called Aigua Typeface.
This typeface takes inspiration from Optical Art, as it uses optical illusions to create a bold, high-impact design. Utilized from more impactful design displays like headlines, posters, branding or even apparel. With such creative, bold and impactful designs, his contributions are most often recognised when he participates in the global 36 Days of Type Challenge. The 36 Days of Type is "a project that invites designers, illustrators, and visual artists to express their unique interpretation of the letters and numbers of the Latin alphabet." Having participated and with his 2023 entry being his most acclaimed design entry as he showed a shift to colour and analog printing methods, it can be said that the use of geometric lines, Op art and surrealism pushes the boundaries of design. He is a designer who is recognized for having the ability to push the field into a more graphical and artistic direction.
