Weekly Design Challenges Assigment

Module 1

These are my 8 objects, 5 primative and 3 complex. I have included a description of each object below.

Design Challenge 1

This image is of an Advil bottle. I consider the advil bottle as a primative object. This image is of an Advil bottle. This image is of a carpe bottle. This item is a primative object. This image is of a carpe bottle. This image is of a head scratcher for hair wash days. This image is a complex object. This image is of a head scratcher for hair wash days. This is a magnetic lash case This is a primative object. This is a magnetic lash case This is an early image at me attempting to model the advil bottle. Started to understand the bevl tool, and adding smoother edges. Added the bump details of the cap, but could not get the top of the bumps the same as it is on the bottle. This is a toothbrush case, which is a primative object. This is a spray deoderant bottle. This is a primative object. This is a spray deoderant bottle. This is a liquid soap bottle. This is a complex object, purely for the cap. This is a liquid soap bottle. This is a mascara bottle. This is a primative object. This is a mascara bottle. But when opened I consider this a complex object, because of the brush and the cap.

Design Challenge 2

This image is of an Advil bottle. I wanted to capture the details of the cap, and the bumps on the top of the cap. I'm trying to get different angles of the object to capture the details. Close up of the bumps on the top of the cap, and the details of the cap. Even closer images Here are some of my early attempts at modeling the advil bottle. Trying to get the details of the cap, and the bumps on the top of the cap. The bumps still don't slope the same as the actual bottle, but I was able to get the details of the cap. Also for some reason my material tab wasn't working, so I couldn't add the colours I wanted. But the shape is still illustrated well enough This is a head scratcher, which I consider a complex object. It it a challenging object but I wanted to try. For the most part it seems pretty straight fowrad The most complex parts being the rubber spikes And the interesting shape of the handle, which is a bit more complex than I thought. I think the early stages were harder than I anticipated I tried different shapes to get that rounded segement of the main body. Ended up using a cylinder shape flattening to make it similar I also tried to bevel the bottom edge to get it to be somewhat round like the actual objet. The sipkes were also challenging as I had used a cone shape for them, but couldn't figure how to round the tips. I was able to add some material and colour to this model and used a basic soft plastic material to replicate the sylicone scrubber. More imagining of that. Another early process image. Used a basic plastic material and tried to match the colour as close as possible. Wasn't quiet able to get to the handle, but I'm still trying to figure it out.

Material Workshop 1

Looking around the AA building i noticed the patterns on this woven cloth made by the textile student and thought it was an interesting texture. I saw this on the doorway of the glass blowing studio and thought it was a great example of a unique material with a diversity in glass texture. This is an image of a glzed ceramic vase that had a blend between smooth physical texture and a cracked textured apperabce.

Material Workshop 2

The shell has a slightly rough textured surface with bumps, but has an extremley smooth bottom.
Project Video Link
The ceramic tile hasa a smoother pourous surfcae

The ice cube was like resin sudo-glass material, was smooth for the most part but did have a riply texture on the different faces of the cube.
